The Year of the Water Snake is coming to a close as we prepare to ring in the Lunar Year of the Wood Horse on January 31, 2014. This is a most important and potent time as the end of a Lunar year always creates an energy of culmination and transition, but the movement from water to wood is the definition of maximizing intention. In the five element cycle water nourishes wood just as wood feeds fire and fire fertilizes earth and so on… The Water Serpent year has the deep potential to transform our inner knowing, creativity and spiritual connectedness. The power of the Water Snake year is in the subtle alignment of body-mind-spirit. Have you healed your deepest wounds this year? Especially for those living along the Front Range in Colorado Water took on a whole new meaning as the area received over a year’s worth of precipitation in less than a week and homes literally washed down the mountain sides. If that doesn’t wake a person up it’s hard to say what will!
It is traditional to take at least a few weeks at the end of a Lunar Year to settle debts, finish what is unfinished, visit family, make pilgrimages, clear out the clutter, cut your hair, etc. before celebrating the coming in of the new Lunar Year. This time the invitation is to spend these last 2 months tending to the deep work of clearing out the emotional, psychological, spiritual clutter. How deep can you go? The deeper one can go the more growth available in this coming Wood year. When you go deep you find all the rich hidden gems of your unconscious mind, your primal knowing and your keenly aware senses.
How many old, outworn skins can you shed in the next 2 months? This is not about looking for something to fix you or looking for something outside of yourself to tell you how to be or who you are. This is about stepping into feeling alive in your body in the present moment. This is about rawness, openness and facing your fear with heart and courage.
What do you want to create in the Year of the Horse? Now is the time to see clearly what is blocking you from those aspirations and creations. Sit with yourself honestly and admit your inner fears and then move in and beyond them.
