“WWE Smackdown” aired on Feb. 1 and the main event saw World Champion Albert Del Rio battle Money in the Bank briefcase holder Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. Here is what went down on this week’s episode of “Smackdown.”
The show opened with Booker T standing in the ring with the following wrestlers: Sheamus, Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler, Great Khali, Kane and Daniel Bryan. He announced that there would be an elimination chamber match to determine the number one contender for the world title at Wrestlemania.
Jack Swagger made his return to the WWE and asked to be in the match. Booker T said he needed to prove himself, but Dolph Ziggler said he refused to fight in the match because he already has a title match coming. Booker T scheduled Dolph to fight Alberto Del Rio later on the card in a non-title match.
In the first match, Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio returned to action and beat the world tag team champions, Kane and Daniel Bryan in a non-title match. Rey pinned Bryan after the 619.
Great Khali beat Jinder Mahal despite the constant interference by the other two members of 3MB.
Next up, Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow decide to break up the tag team of The Rhodes Scholars, eliminating the best tag team in the WWE. They remain friends though. Next, they announce that Paul Heyman will be a guest on Miz TV on “WWE Monday Night Raw” to talk about the Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon situation.
The next match saw Sheamus take on Damien Sandow. When Sheamus was preparing to hit the forearms in the ropes, The Shield’s music hit and they ran in and attacked Sheamus. They hit the triple power bomb on Sheamus and no one came to the rescue.
Randy Orton was up next to fight Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett in a non-title match, and it seems strange that Orton didn’t come to Sheamus’ rescue. Orton beat the champion with an RKO. After the match, Barrett went backstage, saw Bo Dallas, and beat him up.
Jack Swagger made his in-ring return next against former Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston. The end came when Kofi missed a high risk move on the outside and hurt his leg. Swagger rolled him back in the ring and won with the ankle lock.
Alberto Del Rio was waiting in the parking lot all show, waiting for Big Show to show up. Show finally arrived and Del Rio went at him with a baseball bat. The two fought around some, but Big Show mostly tried to get away. Show finally made it to a car, jumped in and took off.
Next up Dolph Ziggler comes to the ring for his match with Alberto Del Rio. Once the champion reaches the ring, the match starts. Del Rio ends up beating Ziggler with the cross arm-breaker. After the match, Big Show appears on the TitanTron and he has Ricardo Rodriguez. Big Show then knocks out Rodriguez and Del Rio races back to get Rodriguez help as the show ends.
