“WWE Monday Night Raw” aired on Feb. 4 and the backlash of the Brock Lesnar attacking Vince McMahon storyline was the advertised selling point. Here is a look at what went down on the latest episode of “Raw.”
The episode opened with CM Punk in the ring talking about how he is tired of being disrespected, and then continued to say The Rock is not the true champion. Booker T interrupts him and sets up a “Raw” interactive poll to determine who Punk will fight tonight. Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho were the choices and Jericho won.
The opening match was the third battle between Ryback and Antonio Cesaro, and Ryback finally picked up a pinfall victory over the U.S. Champion in a non-title match.
Next up, the returning Jack Swagger took on Santino Marella and destroyed him for a quick win. With the win, Swagger earned a spot in the Elimination Chamber match at the next pay per view.
In the next match, Alberto Del Rio beat Cody Rhodes by submission. After the match, Big Show came on the screen and said that he wanted a title match and he would wait at a hotel until the contract was signed. By the end of the show, Del Rio found Big Show, they fought, and Del Rio knocked him out with a fire extinguisher.
Daniel Bryan beat Rey Mysterio by submission, but after the match Mark Henry made his comeback. Henry tossed around Bryan and then beat up Mysterio. Sin Cara tried to help, but Henry was too strong.
In the next match, Sheamus fought Kane. The match ended when Bryan came down and distracted Kane, allowing Sheamus to pick up the win. It looks like they may be about to dissolve the partnership of Team Hell No.
Next up is Miz TV. His guest was Paul Heyman. Miz and Heyman looked like they were about to get into it when Vickie Guerrero came out and admitted that she re-signed Brock Lesnar last week and she was the one who invited him, and not Heyman. Miz ran down both of them, which brought out Lesnar. Brock Lesnar proceeded to kill The Miz. He clotheslined him and tossed him from the ring, before throwing chairs at him. Then The Miz tried to fight back, but Lesnar hit him with the F-5.
In the next match, Randy Orton pinned Wade Barrett to try to prove that he deserves a chance in the Elimination Chamber as well.
The main event was next and CM Punk beat Chris Jericho in an amazing, long, hard fought match. Both men looked great and this might be one of the best free TV matches of 2013 so far.
Finally, the show ended with Brad Maddox in the ring. He said that it was going to be him, and not John Cena, that was going to teach The Shield a lesson. The Shield came down and destroyed Maddox, but then John Cena’s music hit. He came from the stands, as did Ryback and Sheamus. When The Shield tried to run, Randy Orton led a group of WWE wrestlers out to block them. Cena and company beat down The Shield before they finally escaped through the crowd.
