Breaking Update: It’s been revealed by loved ones of the missing 18-year-old that her body was located wrapped in plastic. This adds a whole new element to this already disturbing and mysterious case while investigators work at trying to figure out how she wound up in the woods like this. This new development also changes previous speculation about whether or not this young woman was murdered or if her past with drugs and a high risk lifestyle might have led to her demise. Friends and loved ones of the 18-year-old Florida girl spoke out and contacted me personally with information about her body was found — as you can see by the screenshots. The loved ones of the dead 18-year-old woman also addressed the media this morning at 6:36 a.m., January 22, 2013.
Tampa Bay Online shared the story “Family Mourns Loss of Hernando Woman Found Dead in Levy County,” and in the story the mother of Deanna Lee Stires expressed shock at her untimely death. She said that the two had exchanged text messages between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. These were the last bits of contact Melba Miller had with her daughter before receiving the call that her body had been found.
“Never in a million years did I ever imagine I’d get the phone call that my daughter was dead,” said Melba Miller.
Officials still don’t know Deanna’s cause of death, nor are they releasing many details about how she was found. Nonetheless, loved ones of the 18-year-old shared exactly how her body was found in comments on this snaptwig.com article, and a private email sent to me by a loved one also revealed that information.
Knowing that the body of Deanna Lee Stires was wrapped in plastic and discarded in the woods leads me to believe that this might have been foul play. However, officials have not acknowledged whether or not this woman was a victim of murder. It certainly looks like it, though. There are many avenues of speculation worth expressing with this new detail. Murder seems most likely, but there is also the possibility that she died as a result of some kind of accident, and someone discarded her body to avoid getting into trouble. Until officials release an actual cause of death, the theories are all we have.
As for speculation leading to what might have led to her demise: Any speculation is healthy. To build a victim profile you must pay attention to every known aspect in a person’s life. If this young woman surrounded herself with criminal activity, then that creates an investigative avenue for officials — who could round up clues through places she might have gone and people she might have been in contact with prior to her death. Unfortunately there is a small handful of people who do not understand profiling and victimology, but that doesn’t change anything of importance with this case and others.
