Maybe you’ve noticed that these days, every woman seems to need a purse. Even some men have been carrying purses for many years. If you’re trying to beef up your wardrobe, consider whether you need another purse. In Chicago, it rarely is convenient not to carry a purse (which you can always stash in your best friend’s car in the summer if you’re going to the beach). Does your purse wardrobe consist of one purse which you carry whenever you need to carry a purse (or can’t you convince a friend to carry a purse so you don’t have to carry one)? Or, if your boyfriend wants you to carry a purse just in case, then your wardrobe undoubtedly needs another purse.
Maybe you just got a promotion at work and a bigger paycheck. Could it be that you have been saving a little money every now and then so you’ll be able to buy an accessory that you really need? What influences your choices when speaking about accessories? Is it what they wear on a TV program, what the first lady, Michelle Obama, wears, or what your next door neighbor wears, who is very chic, practical, and stunning no matter what? Do you have shoes and boots with at least two matching purses? Is the purse a clutch, a hobo bag, or a satchel? How do you touch up your makeup when necessary (or do you not wear any makeup) or buy something at a moment’s notice when you find it on sale at a price that’s a real steal?!! If the answer is that you have one purse and you carry the minimum, then consider buying at least one sale priced purse if you don’t have both a brown and a black purse that match your shoes and boots. Perhaps you have decided that everything matches your one and only purse, which is red!!! If that’s the case, your wardrobe needs more than a little beefing up.
Be ready to impress the next time you plan to go for a job interview or to talk to your boss about a raise in pay. Especially in Chicago with all the clothes choices, this winter in particular, with all the great bargains that are still out there, you need to have at least a couple of ensembles, in case you have to go something like a party to mingle and network. So make sure that you have at least two neutral purses, (or at least a purse and a briefcase, especially if you’re a woman)! You never know if opportunity will only knock for the smartly dressed professional. That might mean dressing well enough to be the one your boss picks to go to the next cocktail party to scout out the next person to make that killing on Wall Street1!!!
