The top four Division II (D-II) Florida Rugby Union (FRU) clubs will take the field across the state this Saturday, March 2. The Tampa Bay Krewe (8-1-1) will host the Boca Raton Buccaneers (7-2-0), while the Naples Hammerheads (9-1-0) play host to the Orlando Griffins (6-3-1).
Krewe hosts Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Krewe will host the Boca Raton Buccaneers this Saturday afternoon in Tampa, Fla. The clubs will meet to play the match on the Krewe’s home pitch at Cuscaden Park. Kickoff time for the match is 2 p.m.
A win for the Krewe will work well to set the club up for its match next Saturday, March 9 against the top team in the Southern Division of the FRU – the Naples Hammerheads.
Hammerheads host Griffins
The Naples Hammerheads are hosting the Orlando Griffins this Saturday in Estero, Fla. The clubs will play this match on the Hammerheads home pitch at Estero Park. This match will kick off at 2 p.m.
Should Naples win the match, the club will host the top team in northern Florida, the Tampa Bay Krewe, next Saturday in Estero. If Naples loses, the club will travel to Tampa Bay for the match between the clubs.
Other rugby matches across Florida this Saturday
There are three other matches being played around Florida on Saturday. In D-II action, the Daytona Beach Coconuts (3-7-0) are hosting the Fort Lauderdale Knights (4-6-0) at Richard Petty Field in Daytona Beach, Fla. This match kicks off at 2 p.m.
Two D-III matches are scheduled for Saturday across the Sunshine State. The Palm Beach Panthers (6-0) are hosting the Gainesville Hogs (5-1) in Palm Beach, Fla. Further up the Atlantic Coast, the Indian River Raptors (0-5) will host the Brevard Old Red Eyes (5-2) in Vero Beach, Fla. Both of these matches kick off at 2 p.m.
