The tension thickened between Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) on The Vampire Diaries Season 4, Episode 11 (“Catch Me if You Can”), and things certainly got wilder for Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Kat Graham).
Here are the top ten biggest moments of the episode!
- Jeremy Versus Newborns
Klaus unleashes a massacre of newborns on Jeremy and Matt to force Jer into killing for his curse’s sake, and the two are left scurrying around the forest in a deathly game of cat and mouse. Thankfully, Elena is already in their neck of the woods – heh – and was able to lend a spine-cracking hand.
- Kol’s Freezer Burn
When the coast is clear and day has set in, Jer and Matt emerge to find that their little problem (a ton of ravenous newborns) has been taken care of thanks to Mr. Kol. He wants to chat with Damon and Jer about this hunter curse business. He’s scared of this bedtime boogeyman Silas, and he doesn’t want that sucker rising from the grave. He tries to make a go for Jer, but Damon doesn’t allow that.
- Rebekah and Shane, Sitting in .. an Office
Elena’s pretty much pre-occupied at the moment, which makes Stefan fair game again. Remember how Rebekah once had her mitts on that? Well, she does, and she’s all too happy to remind him of their former glory days .. and the fact that she thinks Elena’s a “child who only thinks about herself.” Stefan throws a stake at her face for that one, but her quick reflexes only elevate the romantic tension re-brewing between them.
- Elena Needs Help, Surprise Surprise
Since Damon’s gotten himself into a hostage situation with Kol, Elena’ll need some help – again – to get him out. Klaus contacts Kol for her (they’re after the same thing, after all), and little brother agrees not to lay a finger on Damon. He’s got a loophole though – all he’s gotta do is compel Damon to harm himself. Oh, and he’ll set him on a mission to do the dirty work of killing Jer.
- Bonnie is Onto Shane, Finally
Finally, Bonnie’s gotten herself a clue about this Shane guy’s psychosis. She gets him to admit to causing that explosion for the sake of a Silas sacrifice, and now she knows he’s a loon. Only, he’s got a secret card up his sleeve and taunts her with intel on what her dear old Grams is going through on the other side right about now. Dun dun dun!
- Damon Vs. Jer
Damon’s on a murderous mission and he can’t stop himself. He tries to give Jeremy a lead, but when he runs out of gas, he goes for a shot to the head. This won’t give him much of a lead, but it’s at least something.
- Bonnie, Firestarter
Bonnie’s powers are way outta control as she rages out against Dr. Shane. She mangles his hand with her mind and sets the place on fire in front of her own father. Now, Shane’s got a bargaining chip with the new mayor – the same one who’s brought him in for questioning. He tells daddy dearest, “your daughter is a prodigy. With my guidance she could be one of the most powerful witches in the world. But without it, she’s a timebomb.” He’s good at negotiations, that’s for sure.
- Kol vs. Rebekah vs. Klaus
Kol and Rebekah and Klaus are not seeing eye-to-eye on this hunter’s curse thing, which makes the prospect of that Originals spin-off show all the more intriguing.
- Stefan Saves the Day, Surprise
Elena makes a last-ditch effort at rescuing her brother from her boy toy by calling his brother, her former boy toy, and guess what? Good guy that Stefan is, he shows up and does what he’s good at by rescuing her people from harm. Only, he’s got a requirement – she’ll have to stay away from Damon for a little while until he is out of Kol’s compulsion.
- Stefan Tells Elena Off, Actual Surprise
Elena’s a little miffed at the way Stefan’s barking orders about this Damon situation. It doesn’t sound like him, she avers. And why is he spending time with Rebekah when she tried to kill her once ago, she asks? Stefan points out that this is the second time Damon’s tried to kill her brother, so what’s her point. Also, he adds the cutting, “You’ve just never seen me like this. You don’t know what I look like when I’m not in love with you. I’ll let Damon know you stopped by.” See ya! Ouch.
