In December 2012, “The X Factor” U.S. announced the dates and cities for open-call auditions in 2013. The venue locations of some of those auditions have now been announced, as of Feb. 12, 2013.
As previously reported, the open-call auditions will be held in five U.S. cities in 2013. Contestants must obtain wristbands from the venue on the day prior to auditions.
Here are the announced details of the open-call auditions:
March 6, 2013: Los Angeles — Galen Center (Registration: March 4-5, 2013) Wristbands will be distributed from approximately 6 a.m. on March 4 until approximately 6 a.m. on March 6. Contestants will not be permitted to camp out at the Galen Center. Once contestants obtain their wristbands, they will be asked to return to the Galen Center by 8 a.m. on March 6.
March 19, 2013: Charleston, S.C. — North Charleston Coliseum (Registration: March 17-18, 2013) Wristband information to be announced.

“The X Factor” U.S. is open to solo singers, duos and groups that do not currently have a music recording contract. Contestants are allowed to have representation, such as managers and/or agents. The grand prize for the contest includes $5 million and a record deal with Sony Music.
Contestants who are eligible to audition must be at least 12 years old (as of Jan. 1, 2013), legal U.S. residents, and legally able to work in the United States. A legal photo ID must be presented at the audition. Any contestant under 18 years old must be accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian.
Those who cannot attend open-call auditions can audition by uploading an a cappella video online.
More information and registration forms can be found at the official “X Factor” U.S. website.
“The X Factor” judges do not attend open-call auditions. Instead, “The X Factor” producers, not the judges, select the contestants from open-call auditions who move on to the next round: auditioning in front of the judges. The 2013 dates for auditions in front of the judges are to be announced, but the auditions in front of the judges are expected to begin in May and should take place in the same cities where the open-call auditions took place.
Fox televises each new season of “The X Factor” U.S. from September to December.
As of now, “The X Factor” executive producer Simon Cowell is the only judge confirmed for the show in 2013. The replacements for Britney Spears and L.A. Reid have not been named yet. And it has not yet been announced whether or not Demi Lovato will continue to be a judge on the show in 2013. The complete “X Factor” U.S. judging panel for 2013 should be announced by May.
