The Ultimate Invite:It’s one of the most coveted invitations to get in the world of pre-Oscar events. Some A-Listers (but mostly newbies) flock to these secret suites of celebrated excess and luxury, to endorse products that are of the highest quality in jewels, watches, purses and symbols of the good life. In exchange, they are photographed and lend their visages to the brands to add a bit of class and notoriety. If you are lucky enough to land a spot at one of the trendy gifting suites in Hollywood before the awards show, you’ve hit the jackpot.
“There’s no end to the celebrity perks during Oscar season. As if attending the awards ceremonies and parties wasn’t enough, stars also flock to the gift suites to pick up a range of goodies.” Hellomagazine.com
At the GBK hosted lounge, located at the tony Sofitel Hotel in the heart of West Hollywood, adjacent to Beverly Hills, some hot and not-so-A-listers dropped by to sample the sweet life of gifting for the Oscar 2013 event. Some charities were also in line for benefits including the City of Hope. They get the stars to take photos so they have ‘free endorsements’. The gifting booths also do the same, and some lucky A-lister may take home a duffel bag filled with stuff that makes Christmas look like a rummage sale in July.
Even if you’re not a ‘special guest’ you could still enjoy some sumptuous treats. The absolute BEST Chocolate indulgence was by Zoes’s Chocolate Co,Cookie Daddy, and Ms.Skinny Bitch (aka Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl brand of new cocktails with her low-cal Vodka and mixes). Along with chocolate indulgences, you could pair up with a glass of Viva Diva Wines.
After you filled your champagne glass to the brim and were glowing in a chocolate and wine stupor, you could start booth tripping to see and be seen to meet and greet the exhibitors and maybe even score a few little freebies.
Each room in the lounge showcased a collection of healthy offerings as well as gifts, from organic chocolates by Vita Organic Foods to Ajinomoto North America, Inc. for natural sleep products and metabolism boosting supplements. Filling your knapsack wasn’t difficult, with a generous sampling of RevitaLash products to increase your batting lash ability, to natural beauty makeup and products like EcoGenics Active Botanical Skincare.
“Additional charities included Global Green USA, the American affiliate of Green Cross International, founded by President Gorbachev to foster a global value shift toward sustainable and secure future. The Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation, and others.”
