The Heart Truth campaign returned to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City to unveil its Red Dress Collection 2013 Fashion Show on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Celebrating women’s heart health and the powerful impact of the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness — the Red Dress — the show kicked off Fashion Week and featured celebrities walking the runway in fashions created by some of America’s top designers.
This year, the campaign wants women to know that every woman has a role to play and a story to share in the fight against heart disease. In addition to the celebrity voices amplifying the issue of women’s heart health, The Heart Truth highlighted stories of women who have survived and triumphed over heart disease and its risk factors. For the first time, the Red Dress Collection featured a non-celebrity who has worked to improve her heart health. The woman chosen this year, whose identity was revealed at the show, is a 55-year old from Brooklyn, Conn.
