Cruising is an amazing and exciting experience, especially for those whom have never done so. This past week, I interviewed a young man who went on a cruise in 2011 with his wife
Why did you go on a cruise?
My wife and I were married in August and we wanted to go on a honeymoon. We planned the vacation about a year in advance and her grandparents helped us pay for it.
And what company did you travel with?
How much did the cruise cost?
We put the downpayment which was like four hundred or something like two hundred a person but it wasn’t a very expensive trip. I think at most it was around nine hundred for the two of us for like four days.
What were the dining options like on the ship?
There was this great little buffet on the Lido deck near the pools that served all you can eat burgers and hot dogs and french fries. My wife loved the buffet on the Lido deck that served an all you can eat dessert bar around lunch time. The actual dining room was sort of mediocre though because I had a steak that would’ve probably cost eight dollars at Ponderosa which was not what I expected for the elegant dining room.
Where did you visit?
We left Mobile, Alabama and cruised to Cozumel and Progesso, Mexico.
Did you do anything while at the ports?
Umm, while we were at Progesso, we did a bit of shopping. Then, we went on an excursion to Dzibilchaltun, which are Mayan ruins on the Yucatan. It was fun and I got some great pictures of flamingos and of me and my wife but I fell asleep on the bus ride back because I was so hot and exhausted from the walking around the site. The tour guides were great though.
My favorite was the excursion to Passion Island at Cozumel. We weren’t going to do anything but then we decided to sign up for it and got on this speed boat to go to this island. Once we got to the island, we were greeted by some of the nicest people who brought you all you can eat food and all you can drink alcoholic drinks and pop while we laid in the hammocks for hours. And on the way back to the ship, we saw dolphins in front of the speed boat. It was awesome!
What is something you would change about the cruise?
There wasn’t that many interesting shows at night or during the day. And the prices for the spa appointments were pretty outrageous considering my wife pretty much lived there the entire time!
Would you go again?
Give me all I can drink alcohol and a hammock on a beach excursion, hells yeah!
Well, according to him, the cruise was a blast and he will be sure to take another.
