Two women want to take a web-based approach to healthcare. Lucy Andrews and Lisa Maria Blaskie are on a mission. They both made a promise to do away with paper records at their respective Home Care Agencies in the Bay Area. Blaskie, owner of ComforCare Senior Services in San Francisco and Riverside, says, “Traditionally, home care workers have kept client records on paper, in a folder, at the home of the client they are caring for. That allows local family members and caregivers to both see the records, but it also means that those records don’t get a comprehensive evaluation very frequently. Because of th at, preventable health issues can slip through the cracks,” she says.
Faced with managing their grandmother’s diverse needs from a distance, Nudd’s family found they could hire appropriate caregivers but had few options for any kind of closer involvement. So Nudd developed ClearCare, a comprehensive home care platform that is now available to home care agencies for $10 per client per month . The user-friendly platform integrates seamlessly into a comprehensive back office system for the agencies.
“ClearCare gives me real-time visibility to what the caregiver is done in the home so that I can manage and oversee care,” says Andrews, who owns At Your Service Home Care in Larkspur, serving Marin and Sonoma Counties. “Family members like it because they can log on for real-time updates from anywhere, whether they’re at the office, on vacation, or living in another city.”
Equally important for Andews and Blaskie as business owners, ClearCare provides a comprehensive, scalable solution that helps them manage their businesses more efficiently. The ability to automate their agencies’ recordkeeping was a major reason for their choice of the ClearCare platform.
“Ask any small business owner what they think of paperwork,” says Andrews, “a nd you’ll instantly understand why ClearCare is such a great tool, especially in this industry.” Previously, she and her staff would routinely face a mountain of paper comprising caregiver reports and dozens of other details related to client care. The paper mountain absorbed hours of work devoted to sorting and collating by hand, in order to consolidate individual client records and generate regular reports for customers.
With ClearCare, recordkeeping and reporting are seamlessly integrated in a single streamlined process, eliminating the constant flood of paper and securely storing all the information in one place. In addition to increasing productivity and reducing costs for the business, it means customers have online access to more complete information delivered in a much more timely manner.
Hence their confident New Year’s resolutions to rid their businesses of paper records and reports. Blaskie says, “No more paper records! They were the bane of my existence, but with ClearCare they’re a thing of the past.”
