Phyllis Summers Romalotti Reid Abbott Newman (did I miss any other last names?) has always been a strong, feisty woman. That’s what we love about her. She sees what she wants, she goes after it. She succeeds at everything she does. She stirs the pot, causes trouble, creates trouble, but she is full of love, life and spunk. Michelle Stafford plays the part of the gorgeous red head just brilliantly. I can’t think of any other actress who could ever play the part of Phyllis even half as well as Michelle does.
Michelle has taken Phyllis from stalker groupie, crazy criminal, suzie homewrecker, sexy wife, boardroom beauty, yummy mommy to one hot granny. This woman is powerful. She could be your best friend, but it’s best not to cross her. These days, it seems like the Phyllis we love so much is so lost.
She had the perfect, happy little life. Her husband, Nick, her kids, Lucy, her job at Restless Style and a bright future that included her newfound relationship with her baby sister, Avery. Things were going fantastic for her. Along came Ricky, followed by her daughter in law from hell, Daisy, and her ex-husband, Tim, the psychatrist, and Phyllis began to spin out of control. Two deaths, one disappearance, a fake affair, a real affair and later a lawsuit from her nemisis, the sweet Christine, and her life spirals downward. Her husband leaves her for her baby sister, whom she just rekindled a relationship with. Her daughter refuses to speak to her, although now she’s beginning to tolerate her again. Her life is in shambles. Until Jack enters the picture. Jack gives Phyllis a fresh start at a new career. Unfortunately it didn’t last long. Jack’s pill problem becomes a problem for Phyllis. She ends up fired. However, Jack finally admits he needs her help.
Please find a new storyline for them! Phyllis is about to help Jack. Jack is going to help Phyllis. They will have a relationship, probably a wedding, and then another bitter divorce. Noah making drinks (watch January 4th US episode) takes longer than Jack’s marriages last. It’s inevitable! Plus it doesn’t help that Jack and Phyllis are more like a brother / sister pairing or at least just good friends. There is no real passion or chemistry between these two. Where are the fireworks?
Fans of Phyllis want to see her happy and in love. Some people loved her with Nick, but her real chemistry is with Ronan. Sure they had great physical chemistry together, but Ronan loves her. He’s risked everything for her. He stood up like a man and professed his love for her, all while her hubby was backing away like a coward. There is no doubt in my mind that the writers of The Young and the Restless need to pick up the phone and beg Jeff Branson to come back. Jeff and Michelle have incredible scenes together. Even if they had a bad storyline, which they haven’t yet, they could still make it work. My suggestion would be to bring Jeff Branson back and have him be the rock that this softer Phyllis needs.
