The players from Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers have already arrived in New Orleans, to prepare for Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013. While they’re busy perfecting their game for Sunday’s champion event.
Chef Donald Link who planned the menu that will be served at the Mercedes Benz Superdome is perfecting his game plan with Centerplate.
Chef Link is a James Beard award winner, and has 5 restaurants in the New Orleans Warehouse District.
Chef Link will be working with Centerplate, they are the catering company hired to execute the menu that chef Link planned for over 70,000 people who will be in attendance.
Centerplate is no stranger to major events as they have over 75 years of catering experience and have top notch chefs and serving staff.
Centerplate is one of the largest food service companies in North America, and they have catered a least a dozen Super Bowls, 100 major College Bowls, 20 Word Series and 15 U.S. Presidential Inaugural Balls.
Although Centerplate is amazing with execution, chef Link conceptualized this menu to represent his native home town of New Orleans. Chef Link menu is not for the faint at heart as it’s loaded with meat, meat and meat.
The meats to be served are chicken, shrimp, crawfish and sausage and specialty meat such as alligator sausage and alligator ground meat for chili.
Chef Link menu entrees are comprised of meat dishes as well as two vegetarian dishes of Geaux Green Salad and Veggie Gyro.
Chef Link and Centerplate have ordered thousands and thousands of meat to feed all the hungry fans, celebrities and players and their family attending Super Bowl XLVII.
There will be over 100 chefs and over 1,000 serving staff diligently working with chef Link and Centerplate to bring this menu to full execution within the next couple of days.
Some of the traditional New Orleans dishes will be shrimp and grits, gumbo and crawfish pie and po’boy sandwich.
The white Gulf Shrimp cocktail will be the most expensive thing on the menu at a cost of $30 and the least expensive item on the menu is nachos for $8.
Super Bowl XLVII will be able to have bragging rights for all the meat and seafood being ordered.
According to TMZ the meat order is as follows:
18,000 pounds of smoked pork
10, 000 pounds of Gulf Shrimp
3,000 pounds of alligator sausage
1,200 gallons of chicken piquant
700 gallons of gumbo (which has chicken and sausage)
440 gallons of red beans and 6,000 pounds of rice
With all this food, which is loaded with tons of protein no one should be leaving Super Bowl XLVII hungry.
