Sound Tribe Sector 9 is bringing double the party time to Lawrence, Kansas this year, with a two-night stop at Liberty Hall! The biggest venue in town always sells out when these guys play, so to give fans a better chance to see them live, the band is playing Tuesday, March 12th and Wednesday, the 13th!
As far as electronic jam bands go, STS9 is the gold standard by which any other band or musician might measure themselves. The five guys rock out with hard-hitting, aggressive songs as well as melodic, chill grooves. Every show is a ride through dazzling lights and musical movements that explore every mood.
There are the drum-thumping, bass-rumbling almost-metal songs, then there are the spacey-guitar, dreamy-synth electronic jams, sometimes all wrapped into a single, long, epic song of breath-taking complexity.
The band has a phenomenal list of songs they chose from for their live shows. Whether you need a snappy beat to dance to, or something smooth to lose yourself in, Sound Tribe plays it all. With two nights in Lawrence, the band will probably offer two entirely different sets, featuring many of the fan favorites. The most devoted, lucky fans will go both nights and enjoy a madly good time.
Speaking of fans, you will find a wide variety of folks showing up both nights for STS9. From young electronic ravers to old-school hippies, the band brings all kinds of people together. The vibes are always positive and the audience always knows how to get down. There is just something about a Sound Tribe show that hypnotizes all listeners to find their own groove.
Personally, I have plenty of songs I pray to hear, and I know I’ll at least get to rock out to some of them. Off the top of my head, here are just a few songs you should check out in advance, if you do not already know that you’re going: EHM, Breathe In, Arigato, F Word, Aimlessly, Inspire Strikes Back, Grizzly, Lion, Metameme and Bigs. Just to name a few. Then there was the time they played an instrumental cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer”, if they play that again I will die from joy.
Sound Tribe Sector 9 does not come around town as often as fans might like, so these two nights are undoubtedly going to sell out. Folks will travel from far and wide to be in Lawrence for both nights. Be sure to get your tickets before it’s too late! These concerts are going to be some of the very best music events of the year in Lawrence, so any fans of good music cannot afford to miss out!
