Skyline Theatre Company is continuing this year to support young New Jersey high school seniors in Bergen County and only two weeks remain to enter.
For the 5th year in a row, Skyline is offering a $1000.00 cash scholarship to support Bergen County high school students who will be furthering their education by majoring in theatre, television, film, or communications.
The Harry K. Berkheiser Jr. Scholarship, named for the late New Jersey educator and founding Skyline member Harry K. Berkheiser, is awarded annually to a Bergen County high school senior who has a true passion for, and will be furthering their higher education in, one of these art forms. Applications can be found on the Skyline web site at www.skylinertheatrecompany.org (click on Education, then on Scholarships). The deadline for all applications is March 15, 2013.
“This scholarship is truly part of Harry’s legacy,” says Sam Scalamoni, Skyline’s Artistic Director. “He was so passionate about young people and the arts. We at Skyline are extremely proud to be able to extend this scholarship for young people who show a true commitment and dedication to these branches of the arts.”
The cash scholarship will be awarded to the winner at this year’s Skyline gala “Concert of Stars,” which will be held Sunday, April 7th, at the George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in Fair Lawn. The concert will feature singers from Broadway shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Mamma Mia!, and Mary Poppins.
