The Todd & Michelle Schnitt versus Bubba the Love Sponge Clem defamation trial continued today Wednesday in the Hillsborough County, with the cross examination of the testimony of Todd Schnitt.
The much anticipated cross examination of Mr Schnitt took place today. Mr Greg Hearing for the defense took Mr Schnitt back through many of the incidents he had given evidence about the previous day.
Prior to the cross examination, Mr Schnitt appeared to tear up when suggesting to the jury that he should be compensated, which would restore his good name and that of his wife.
Mr Schnitt had stated that he and his family rarely left their house and had limited his appearances, but admitted that this past weekend he had gone to lunch at Clearwater Beach with his son and former Co host BJ Harris. Mr Schnitt tweeted a picture of himself and Mr Harris beside an effigy of Hulk Hogan.
On the subject of emails, Mr Schnitt continued to deny any recollection of receiving any critical emails before the return of Mr Clem to local terrestrial radio. This was despite Mr Schnitt being shown a number of emails. After looking at each email, he denied ever seeing them. During testimony, Mr Schnitt stated that he attributed critical emails to members of the Bubba Army based on language used rather than any mention of Mr Clem or the Bubba Army. During questioning, Mr Schnitt could not state that every email was written by separate individuals and had not been sent by one individual.
During questioning with regard to the egging incidents at his home, Mr Schnitt stated that on the original incident where eggs were thrown directly at his wife, he or his wife called Law Enforcement on the day of the incident. He further mentioned that Law Enforcement had not been called regarding the second egging incident until a number of days later.
Despite Mrs Schnitt being targeted directly on the first incident, Mr Schnitt perceived the second incident when his property was targeted to be the more serious and had CCTV cameras installed at considerable expense. Mr Schnitt is seeking compensation for this security system. No evidence that Mr Clem was in any way involved in either incident has been presented before the court.
Live streaming of court proceedings can be seen here when the court is in session.
Mr Schnitt recounted an incident where his car had been blocked in by a truck and the occupants had been shouting abuse at him and his wife. Mr Schnitt took a number of pictures of the incident. Unfortunately, the photos showed the people involved giving thumbs up and smiling.
The Jury asked if he had suffered any financial loss, Mr Schnitt said he was under contract but may have lost some sponsers.
The trial will continue tomorrow when Michelle Schnitt will testify.
