The “next big thing” is coming and so is a Times Square event. It’s already known that Samsung is going to introduce its next flagship device, the Galaxy S IV, on March 14 at a New York City Samsung Unpacked event. In a tweet the company issued on Thursday, the company added that there was also a Times Square GS4 event coming that day.
It is unclear what Samsung has in mind, but the company said that it wants us to “Be Ready 4 The Next Galaxy.” We’re sure they are not talking about the introduction of a starship (“Galaxy”), but instead the Galaxy S IV (4). We don’t expect to see anyone dancing in Times Square a la “She Works Hard for the Money,” but with Samsung, who knows.
One interesting factoid is that the Times Square event appears to be scheduled at the same time as the launch event. We don’t believe these are one and the same, but again with Samsung, who knows?
Rumored specs for the Galaxy S IV have been flying around for some time. It’s long been expected that the GS4 will carry a Exynos 5 Octa (eight-core) CPU (four low-power processors, four uber processors).
In addition, it’s believed the GS4 will sport a Mali-T678 (eight-Core) GPU, 4.99-inch SuperAMOLED display (can’t we just call it 5.0-inches?), 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video capability, a two-megapixel front facing camera, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
While those hardware specs seem enough to propel consumers to the store, custom features laid on top of Android are expected to be a strong sales point, as well. Sources said earlier that “The leap in cool new features from [the Galaxy S III] to the next flagship will be bigger” than the leap from the Galaxy S II to the Galaxy S III.
