It has been reported that the Oakland Raiders are interested in another quarterback for their first pick, third overall, for April’s NFL draft. This quarterback happens to be Geno Smith from West Virginia.
Bleacher Report stated on Wednesday that the Raiders were impressed by Smith at the NFL Draft Combine and will possibly go with the young quarterback.
It was believed that G. Smith would possibly end up with the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Chiefs just made a trade for Alex Smith with the 49ers. So, the Chiefs will make a move for another position.
That leaves the Raiders to get Geno, who happens to be a coveted QB due to his size and abilities by many teams. At least, it is believe that this is true.
On the other hand, the Raiders could do without Geno. Oakland has two decent QBs. What they need is work on the offensive and defensive line.
Picking up a new QB could be work. G. Smith is very good and put up good number at the NFL Scouting Combine, but his abilities are said to be limited in the sense that he needs leg work.
Geno Smith is strictly a pocket QB, like Carson Palmer; however, G. Smith does have good scrambling abilities. On the contrary, Smith is not also believed to not be as good as Robert Griffin III or Colin Kaepernick when running from the pocket.
So, if the Raiders pick him up, it would only have to be for a trade, no? If they keep the young QB, it would be a lot work to shape him up to the Raiders scheme, according to analysts. Plus, the Raiders are already doing that with Terrelle Pryor. So, what is the deal?
Anyhow, in April the Raiders Nation will get to see what moves will be done by Oakland. According to the analysts, Geno Smith is not the way to go.
