The following article is part of an ongoing effort to help homeless dogs in and around Toronto/Hamilton area find suitable and loving homes. Currently, the need is great but the homes are few. Your help is desperately needed.
Loyal Rescue of Peterborough, Ontario would like to introduce sweet Madeline (1346), another dear little Shih Tzu in need of a loving home.
Madeline, who is currently in a foster home in Peterborough, is about 3 years old and weighs just 9 lbs. She is described as “a bit shy at first but warms up quickly and loves to cuddle. This sweet girl spent most of her life having one little of puppies after another in a Quebec puppy mill.
Despite her past, “Madeline is one of the most amazing little critters I’ve had the pleasure of fostering!” says her foster mom. “She has a wonderful zest for life and can’t seem to pack enough into any one day.”
One of the habits she has from being in the puppy mill is “spinning in place,” but her foster mom says she no longer does this so often. She loves to play with the other dogs and “running like the wind in the back yard.” It will be necessary for her to have a secure back yard.
According to her foster mom, she still needs some work on her manners while on leash, since she never had the opportunity to go for walks before. However, she behaves well in the car. She is also “99 percent housetrained” and may need some extra encouragement when she goes to a new home. She is up-to-date on her routine shots and spayed.
“She will use pee pads if I’m not home and she must go.”
Needless to say, she is crate trained but is not kept in one.
“This little one loves to snuggle and be held once she’s tired out. She just melts into you and clings like a second skin. Whoever adopts this girl will have a new best friend for life and will never ever regret their decision.”
It is recommended that she only go to a home with children over 14 years of age. For more information or to adopt this dear girl, email email@example.com and put “Pet Inquiry: Madeline 1346 PFId#25129539” in the subject line. If you wish to adopt Madeline, go to the website www.loyalrescue.com and fill in the online application.
