Some rumors are a bit more credible than others, and then some are just downright awful, but the one involving the PS4 not being able to play audio CDs is just foolish.
According to a report from an article discovered today, Sony told a Japanese journalist that the PS4 won’t support CDs or Super Audio CDs, like the PS3 did.
As rumors have gone this year, there have been some very credible ones and some bad ones, where a journalist was duped into false information.
This new rumor surrounding the PlayStation 4 seems like it is extremely unlikely and really, whoever started this rumor up may have well said the PS4 will run on electricity as well.
Audio CDs being playable on the PS4 is a slam dunk given, so why would this even be a topic to discuss? PlayStation 4 is a hot topic though, and for someone to report something breaking about the system is few and far between.
Recently Sony Computer Entertainment United Kingdom boss Fergal Gara talked about how the company still has news yet to be unveiled, and it looks like it will land at E3 this year.
“Well, people are going to expect more news at E3 as one example. So we’ve got to think about two things.
“One, gradually building the story, and secondly, when we need to make decisions. It isn’t appropriate to make all of the decisions this far out.
“A great example would be a precise release date.
“We’re working through all sorts of production schedules and all that kind of stuff, so we just couldn’t – unless we decided it was a year and a half away: you could probably commit to any date you like if you go that far away – but we want to get it out to market quickly and pricing those various commercial variables to be fully weighed up that we’re not fully worked through,” Gara said.
