Several times on the television, I saw advertisements for the Land O’Lakes Sauté Express. The add showed a way to add flavor to your meat products and have something extraordinary and delicious for dinner in an extremely easy process.
The add caught my eye by the idea of “flavor” and “easy.”
Therefore, the next time I went perusing the store, I looked and found it in the dairy section beside the frozen pasta and biscuits. The one thing that was a bit of a surprise was the cost of the Sauté Express – a little more than I had thought and perhaps a bit disappointing.
Nevertheless, I purchased the Sauté Express Italian Herb. Sauté Express is made up of six little cubes in one package. Unfortunately, for several pieces of chicken to have a really good flavor, the cook must use multiple cubes for one dish which is an added feature regarding the cost.
To cook with Sauté Express we removed frozen chicken from our freezer and defrosted it thoroughly. The aroma is strong when the cubes are first opened and most especially the Garlic and Herb, but as it is melted in the skillet, the fragrance simmers down gradually. After a few moments, we added the boneless chicken breasts cooking slowly and turning them over frequently to absorb the Italian Herb flavor. Then after they were cooked well done, we turned the heat down on the stove and covered the chicken for several moments.
Served with an appetizing vegetable side dish, the chicken came out superbly flavored and very juicy. The initial taste of the chicken was full of herbs and spices and with no bad after taste. That was extremely surprising considering the initial scent of the Garlic and Herb when we opened the cubes.
“What impressed me the most is the simplicity of it,” said Helen Walsh Folsom. “You do not have to bother mixing different herbs and spices. It is all together for you. You get a really delicious culinary experience without the added complexity.”
Sauté Express has four flavors: Italian Herb, Garlic and Herb, Lemon Pepper, and Savory Butter and Olive Oil. Chicken can be cooked best with Italian Herb, Garlic and Herb, and Lemon Pepper; fish with Lemon Pepper and Savory Butter and Olive Oil. Other options are to cook the Sauté Express with cut potatoes and other vegetables.
