A Gallup report released Monday shows most Americans consider individual liberty, quality of life and opportunity to succeed to be the top virtues of the United States over the rest of the industrialized world.
This same group feels the government, economy and healthcare system are lacking.
With this in mind, it begs the question, “How in the hell did Obama win the election?”
Here are the local numbers;
In Trumbull County, Obama received nearly 62,000 of the roughly 102,000 who showed up to vote. About 50,000 voters stayed home.
In Mahoning County, Obama received about 77,000 of the roughly 123,000 voters. Also about 50,000 voters stayed home.
In Ohio, Obama received nearly 2.8 million of the roughly 5.6 million voters. About 2.4 million voters stayed home.
The problem being, too many voters were either misinformed or unmotivated by a lackluster candidate in Mitt Romney. The others voted for whom they thought was closest to their own ideology.
Many conservatives and libertarians stayed home citing Romney as an unfavorable candidate forced upon us by the Bush wing of the Republican Party.
Many union members who voted for Obama cited his support for the unions as a reason for voting for him. They seem to have forgotten that Obama intentionally blocked about 20,000 jobs with the Keystone Pipeline, which would have benefited the steelworkers, pipe fitters, Teamsters, etc. in favor of radical environmentalists. The unemployment numbers for both union and non-union employees has stagnated using official numbers, but has increased using the real numbers.
Obama diametrically opposes the same virtues Americans hold dear.
Americans list individual liberty as the top virtue while Obama believes in collectivism, big government and strongly disagrees with the Constitution, which he refers to as “a charter of negative liberties, says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.”
Second is quality of life.
With a high and sustained unemployment level, increased CAFE standards which increases the death toll in car crashes, increased regulations increasing the prices of products and utilities, etc. how can anyone believe the quality of life is improving?
Remember when Obama stated, “Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”?
The faltering economy and unemployment causing the number of citizens on government assistance to grow exponentially is definitely taking a toll on our opportunity to get ahead.
The 3 areas where Americans feel the United States is faltering are Obama’s strong suits.
As mentioned, Obama’s policies have contributed to the faltering economy and bigger government as well as deterioration in the quality of healthcare citizens can afford.
Health insurance rates are increasing by $3,000 or more as a direct result of Obamacare aka the Affordable Care Act, according to a report by Forbes, Monday. As is usually the result, government intrusion into the private sector and/or things it doesn’t have Constitutional authority to do, makes these things it assumes to fix worse.
