Fern Forest offers boardwalk and foot nature trails. It is also designated as Great FL Birding Trail and wildlife viewing area. You will find a butterfly garden near the beginning of one of the foot trails, it is a very lovely area with seating.
The park has events to partake in the serene outdoors at the amphitheatre such as music jamming. So if you’re looking for something to do on a Sunday afternoon once a month, come hang out and listen to music, or better yet bring your own acoustic instrument and join in to play mountain music.
So if you have a fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo or any other unamplified instrument then bring it along to have an afternoon of fun music making. Be one with nature as the birds and rustling of the trees play along. Held the second Sunday of each month Oct-May at 2 p.m. Free
On Thursdays 6-7 p.m. you can take a hatha yoga class held in the nature center with certified instructors. It is $10 and no yoga experience is needed.
They are offering “An Evening of the Stars Astronomy 2013 Series” free to all ages on March 15, June 21, Sept. 20 and Dec. 20 from 7-9 p.m. Call the nature center for registration info.
You will be looking through the telescope and speakers will be pointing out the sky, and give techniques and astronomy information. Hosted by Parks and Recreation Division and the South Florida Amateur Astronomers Association.
Exhibit hall, picnic areas along the natural setting parking lot, the lot is also a nice place if you just want to sit in your car and relax for awhile, restrooms, beverage vending machine, and a banquet hall for rental upstairs.
Because of its peaceful and natural surroundings, you will commonly see the cozy amphitheatre downstairs prepared for weddings with a reception to follow in the banquet hall. Close to the turnpike and a couple miles west off I-95’s Atlantic Boulevard. If you’re traveling west, you will need to take the Lyons Road South ramp from the right lane, because a left turn is not allowed onto Lyons from Atlantic Boulevard. The park is on the right hand side just past Atlantic Boulevard.
