A phone call from a mysterious woman neither has ever met suddenly throws Jerry and Rachel together, threatening them both and pushing them into increasingly dangerous situations. Jerry is an underachiever still reeling from the death of his brother, a military overachiever, and Rachel is a simple suburban housewife. As they try to figure out their connection it becomes obvious someone is using all technology available to track and direct their actions, and possibly to use them for a political assassination.
Shia LaBeouf (Jerry Shaw), Michelle Monaghan (Rachel), Rosario Dawson (Zoe), Billy Bob Thornton (Agent Morgan), Michael Chiklis (Defense Sec Callister), Julianne Moore (Aria).
Basically this is another ‘computer tries to take over the world plot’, nothing very original there. But that is the most boring thing to be said about this movie. The action pretty much kicks off right from the beginning and other than a few slow moments, which are needed to catch your breath, it doesn’t stop until the last two minutes of the movie which are there only to tie up loose ends. The story flies along with the action and some very nice special effects. The guy getting electrified was great! Plenty of explosions, car crashes, bullets, and even some blood will keep action fans on the edge of their seat.
LaBeouf does a very nice job in this one, as did Monaghan and Dawson. Thornton and Chiklis both did wonderfully. Kudos to Moore for the voice of Aria. The remainder of the supporting cast was decent.
Camera work, sets, and backgrounds were nicely done with good attention to detail. Effects were well done and supported the film throughout. The use of technology to support the plot was well done. Dialogue was good, as were sound and soundtrack.
Overall this is an enjoyable action thriller that will be enjoyed by both teens and adults. Not much can be said about the plot without giving away the entire film, and because it is a bit thin.
Rated PG13 due to violence and language, this should be okay for kids 10 and up. No nudity or sexual references and only infrequent foul language.
Eagle Eye is no longer showing in any Littleton Colorado movie theatres.
