Celebrities attending the 2013 Governor’s Ball immediately following the Academy Awards next month will enjoy vegan pizza along with the traditional menu of smoked salmon and mini-Kobe burgers.
“If they don’t find something to eat [among our dishes] then they are really finicky,” chef Wolfgang Puck told Reuters.
There are more vegan dishes available this year, since many celebrities follow a vegan diet, including Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway, whose film, “Les Misérables,” is up for eight Academy Awards. Vegan delights on tap include kale salad with grilled artichoke and a beet salad with spiced walnut, among others.
Puck, who’s creating the menu for the post-Oscar ball for the 19th consecutive year, promises his tasty dishes will tempt any star off their diet.
“Nobody eats lunch that day, so by nine o’clock, anybody who would be on a diet is no longer on that diet,” he says.
This year’s menu includes an array of mouth-watering dishes, including:
- Chicken pot pie with shaved black truffles;
- Japanese baby peach salad;
- Steamed red snapper with Thai spice;
- Farro salad with apple, beets and spiced walnut
- Slow-braised lamb shank “shepherd’s pie”
- Lobster with black bean sauce
- Chestnut tortellini with white truffles
Some 1,500 guests are expected to attend the Governor’s Ball immediately following the 85th annual Academy Awards ceremony on Feb. 24.
