Kate Middleton’s month has not been the best, as the media has tagged her as a “plastic princess” and they’ve pulled her family apart with allegations of business practices involving child labor in a Mexican shanty town. According to Entertainment Wise on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, Kate is now looking at her brother having some financial trouble with his business. If James’ business was raking it in, his gain would most likely be attributed to his sister’s royal status in the media, but what can the tabloids do with a loss?
Kate’s brother James ran across some financial problems with his online Nice Group company. All has fared well though, James went to his parents to help him get back on track in the money department, according to the Daily Mail. James owes his creditors over 32,000 pounds from his business that posted a 17,000 pound loss for last year.
While this is awful news for Kate and her family, especially her younger brother the business owner; there is a silver lining, however trivial it may be. No one can say that James took advantage of Kate’s royal status to try and sell his confectionary goods online to make a killing. The story would be different today if James’ business was successful last year.
If he had raked in the money, it would have probably been seen in the headlines that this was only because he is the sister of the future queen and somehow used that fact to his advantage business wise. The Middleton‘s, including James, have done business as usual since Kate married into royalty, but that hasn‘t stopped the finger pointing every time someone sees a Corgi dog trinket or something else that can be twisted into a royal offering put up on one of their websites for purchase.
The Middleton family doesn’t sell anything different than other party goods websites. The same goes for James’ online cake and confectionary business, but they are held to such higher standards by the media because Kate is now a member of the Royal Family. If James Middleton’s did use his connection to Kate and te royal family to sell their wares, he’d most likely be posting high earnings for last year, but this is not how Kate’s family operates. It is sad that it took James’ failing year financially to prove this point.
