In part one of this article, I described the citrus facial at the Senses Spa at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort. The facial is just one of many decadent treatments you can book by calling 407-WDW-SPAS. Here’s how to maximize your spa time and make the most of the relaxation:
- Choose your treatment wisely. People tend to gravitate toward familiar treatments like manicures, pedicures, and massages. Sure, they’re nice, but why not try something different? If you still want to stay conservative, opt for a facial. I can personally recommend the citrus version, and you can choose from several other face treatment. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for a body treatment. Wraps and scrubs are a wonderful way to pamper not just your face, but every inch of your skin.
- Allow enough time to get to the spa. The Grand Floridian is in the Magic Kingdom area. You can drive or take the monorail from the Magic Kingdom and the other hotels on the line (Contemporary and Polynesian). Otherwise, you can hop on a bus at the Disney theme parks. Give yourself ample time because there’s often a wait for buses or the monorail, especially during the busy season.
- Allow enough time to really enjoy the spa. Walt Disney World vacations can be hectic, but you shortchange yourself if you just run in, get your treatment, and run out. Allow enough time to relax beforehand, then hit the steam room, whirlpool, and loungers while you’re still in your post-treatment state of bliss. Feeling rushed destroys the serenity too quickly. Kick back, have a cup of herbal tea or cucumber basil water and some fresh fruit or a healthy cupcake. You deserve it!
- Bring your swimsuit. You can wrap yourself with towels in the steam room/whirlpool/lounger area, but it’s a lot more comfortable being in a swimsuit and a plastic bag to carry it in when you’re done. Other than that, you won’t need much, since the spa has toiletries ranging from shampoo and conditioner to shavers, gel, and deodorant.
Spa treatments aren’t cheap, but they’re a great way to indulge yourself when you need that extra bit of pampering. Hopefully these four tips will help make it the most pleasurable experience possible. If you’d like a sneak preview of the spa, click the video toward the bottom of this article for a tour.
