Abby is a TRUE gladiator
Abby has been wavering in her loyalty to Liv and the rest of the gladiator crew throughout the season particularly during her relationship with Liv’s frenemy David Rosen. When Abby discovered that Liv sent Harrison to make up lies about David in order to get her to break up with him, she stormed out of Pope & Associates and straight into the arms of David. However, much to the surprise of the audience Abby reunited with David to get access to his apartment and get much needed information from his safe. Once she revealed what she had done to the team after an angry David confronted her, Abby found comfort in the arms of Harrison and proved that she is a true gladiator.
Cyrus almost has James killed
After weeks of lying, Cyrus finally confessed to his husband James that he actually rigged the election. Before the confession, both had to strip naked in front of one another to ensure that the other one was not wearing a wire. Cyrus not only revealed that he helped to rig the election but is a borderline sociopath hungry for power and bitter that he can not be the president because he was gay. After the conversation, James seemed torn about whether or not he would lie to the grand jury about his knowledge of what happened in Ohio. Cyrus was clearly under the gun and called one of the hitmen to take James out right in front of the justice building. His conscious ultimately got the better of him and for good reason because James ended up changing his testimony at the last minute and lying for his husband.
Fitz turns his back on Olivia
Scandal fans have fallen in love with the Fitz/Olivia relationship although he is the married President of the United States with a pregnant wife. Fitz has fought for Olivia for the past two seasons, so fans were clearly surprised when he was so cold to her at the end of the episode when he begged for her to wait for him while he divorced Mellie. During flashbacks, it was discovered that Fitz’s cold shoulder was a result of him finding out from Verna that Olivia was a part of the election rigging scandal. Even more heartbreaking was Olivia’s face while sitting in the pews at church after Fitz’s revelation and eulogy at her service.
Verna ordered the President’s assassination
After the President’s attempted assassination, there were several different theories as to who hired Becky. Through a couple of episodes, fans were led to believe that it was the uber aggressive Hollis Doyle that had something to do with it. Cyrus had even sent an assassin to go and kill Hollis in retaliation but the plot was quickly averted by Huck once Olivia realized that Hollis was not the culprit. Fortunately, the audience didn’t have to wait for long to find out the answer to the question of “whodunit?” Within the first 5 minutes of the episode, it was revealed that it was Justice Verna that hired Becky because she felt that Fitz wasn’t really the President. Even more shocking is that she called Fitz to the hospital and told him in person that she was the culprit and about the election rigging…which leads to the most shocking moment of the episode….
President Fitz kills Verna
After Verna’s shocking and emotionless confession to Fitz that she tried to have him killed and planned to confess everything to a Federal prosecutor that would leave his entire administration in shambles, Fitz did the unthinkable and removed Verna’s oxygen mask and held her hands down ultimately killing her. This moment was saved for the last few minutes of the episode and exposed another side of Fitz that viewers had not seen before. Earlier in the episode when it was revealed that Verna died, it was no surprise considering that her illness had been dragged out all season long. Ultimately it doesn’t seem as if Fitz agreed with the decision to rig the election but as Verna pointed out he wasnt completely naive as to what was going on. His disappointment wasn’t that the election was rigged but that Olivia took part and never told him.
