‘Final Vision’ 40 years of the Jeffrey MacDonald murder case

by snap twig

Joe McGinnis literally wrote the book on the Jeffrey MacDonald murders. McGinnis has written what he says is the last word on the case.

In “Fatal Vision: The Last Word on Jeffrey MacDonald,” McGinnis reveals that in “United States of America v. Jeffrey R. MacDonald” has lasted for 42 years and there is at least four more years to the closure of the case.

This e-book is a Kindle Short and it compactly and expertly fills in what has happened in the case since McGinnis wrote his first book.

On 3:42 a.m. on Feb. 17, 1970, the military police at Fort Bragg, North Carolina received an emergency call regarding a murder at 544 Castle Drive. This home was in the section of the base set aside for married officers. MacDonald was a Princeton trained doctor who worked at Bragg.

The emergency was actually the murder of three people and an unborn baby. They were all stabbed multiple times, except for Jeffrey who had minor injuries.

McDonald claimed that some “hippie types” had broken into their home and killed his family. He was especially concerned about a woman who had long blond hair, wore a floppy hat holding a candle while chanting “acid is groovy … kill the pigs.” The word ‘pig’ had been written on the headboard of the MacDonald’s bed. If this scenario sounds familiar, this murder happened six-months after the Tate-LaBianca murders in Los Angeles that involved Charles Manson.

Most of the updates in this book concern the constant legal ranglings of MacDonald’s team. Constant requests for a new trail, which are always turned down. Claims of new evidence, mostly regarding the lady in the floppy hat. There was actually a woman who was close to the MacDonald’s house that was a hardcore drug addict and hippie wannabe by the name of Helena Stoeckley. This woman has been interviewed many times by both sides of the aisle. In the end the judge ruled that the woman was so high that she didn’t remember if she had been in the house or not, but that it was unlikely. Stoeckley died in the eighties.

Where is Jeffrey MacDonald now? He is still in prison waiting for the word to come down from the court regarding a new trail.

This Kindle short can be purchased on Amazon for $2.99. It’s a quick read and it’s interesting. Mr. McGinnis is THE expert regarding the MacDonald case. There are a few other books out there. However, those authors didn’t set through one minute of the trail. McGinnis actually lived with MacDonald and his team for the time before the trail and during the trial. He had total access to this former doctor turned murderer.

It’s doubtful that this will be the last word about this case. If MacDonald were to get a new trial, McGinnis would probably write yet another book.
