On Wednesday, February 27, the highly anticipated first episode of ‘Duck Dynasty’ season 3 kicked off. As duckaholics expected, season 3 is bringing the same humor with new twists and adventures.
During episode 1, the bearded men decided to rough it out in the wilderness, which of course meant that they wouldn’t be bathing anytime soon. Jase is determined to stay outdoors and rough it out as he believes a man should. However, brother Willie feels that this outing calls for an RV.
Jase’s response once Willie’s set of wheels entered the picture: “Once you bring something with wheels that’s enclosed, you’re no longer camping. That’s parking.”
Needless to say Jase simply wasn’t pleased with Willie’s camping spot. He kept his criticism going by saying, “Use your beard for something more than a decoration.”
Brother Jep who is often also criticized for not being as much as a “roughin it” kind of guy, joined Willie in the camper. The two brothers had some bonding time over video games. Well, Jep mainly kept answering Willie by saying the word “yes” as he focused on his game, but still…. Willie tried to convince his little brother to go back to nature, but he didn’t seem too interested.
Meanwhile, the outdoorsmen are finding out that they are mosquito prey.
Rule #1 when camping? Bring plenty of bug spray.
Meanwhile, Phil and Kay are enjoying some of her tasty jambalaya. As usual Phil wants some lovin from his wife Miss Kay, but she tells him he smells and needs to shower first.
Back at the campsite, Si continues to unsuccessfully shoot at a snake. He then claims that rule #1 is instead, “always bring a pistol.” As the guys continue to sweat and get bit by mosquitos, they decide they are wanting something more to eat.
Si then makes another rule #1 saying you should always have your buddies back. The supposable loyal uncle decides to head to Phil and Kay’s to pick up some food for the rest of the group.
Before Si arrives, Phil is reading Kay biblical scripture about husband and wives’ to back up his desires, but Kay reminds him that cleanliness is next to Godliness.
Si comes in and simply can’t turn down Miss Kay’s offer for some jambalaya. He decides that he is going to kick it at Phil and Kay’s for a while, and what the boys don’t know won’t hurt them.
During Uncle Si’s absence Willie eats on some fettuccini, and offers some to the rest of the group.
Jase is still displeased with Willie’s RV. Though he is getting bitten up, and is having a hard time enjoying himself, he knows he only has two choices: “Stay at the campfire and be a man, or go to the girl scout meeting.” Everyone except Martin and Jase decides to join Willie and Jep. Apparently being a girl scout didn’t end up sounding so bad.
Back at Phil and Kay’s, Si claims he is going to lay down after a while due to the helping of jambalaya he had. Once again he changes rule #1: Lay down & digest.
The two “roughnecks,” Martin and Jase opt for some mallow dogs, which consist of bread and marshmallows. Evidently Martin likes this kind of sweet-toothed dog as he winds up eating 10.
Jase admits that this particular camping trip is one of the tougher roughing it sessions he’s ever had. Even Martin decides he can no longer take it out there, which of course disappoints Jase.
As one might have guessed, Si’s little nap turns into an overnight stay at Phil and Kay’s. The next day he says he had a horribly scary dream that a lion was eating a hyena. Only Uncle Si….only Uncle Si.
Phil visits the campsite in the morning and fires a gun to wake the crew up, and then proceeds to call them “snoozing sissies.”
Willie and the guys come to find out that Jase spent the morning hunting but neglected to tell the rest of the group. It’s the opening of duck season, and the duck hunters are disgusted that they didn’t get an earlier start. Willie asks if he can drive the RV to the hunting site, and gets a “NO!”
