On Jan. 28, Disneyland Resort announced its plans for observing Valentine’s Day with a weeklong celebration of love and “happily ever after” with a week of special Disney touches. “True Love Week” will take place Feb. 11 – 17 and is part of Disney Parks’ “Limited Time Magic” promotion for 2013.
Disney guests of all ages will find a variety of surprises themed to the holiday and that celebrate love in its many forms: romantic, platonic, familial and more.
Disneyland Resort, located in Anaheim, Calif. will mark “True Love Week” in several ways to help gets get into the holiday mood. There will be special entertainment and experiences, character meet-and-greets with Disney couples, photo opportunities, themed food and limited-edition Valentine’s merchandise.
Among Disneyland’s “True Love Week” elements are the following experiences and items.
Disneyland Park will wear its heart publicly, as “True Love Conquers All” banners, heart-shaped signs and sweetheart-themed details will decorate the theme park.
At dusk, Sleeping Beauty Castle will glow with red and pink hues, along with projections of flowers and hearts.
Guests looking for a Valentine photo will find two picturesque settings in Disneyland Park. Town Square, in Main Street, U.S.A., will display a giant floral heart ready for people to pose for the perfect picture. The Snow White Wishing Well near Sleeping Beauty Castle, with its flowers, garlands and decorative doves, also make for a romantic backdrop; at night, the wishing well and Snow White Grotto adds lighting for a dramatic touch.
Famous Disney couples – Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck – will appear near Town Square for photos with guests.
The Disney Princes make a rare appearance for guests who not only want their prince(s) to come, but to capture the moment in a souvenir photo. The Princes will escort their Princesses along The Royal Walk in Fantasyland. Meanwhile, Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen, from “The Princess and the Frog,” will appear in New Orleans Square.
Guests also may encounter the Wandering Wallflowers, who are themselves in search of “true love.”
Romantic Disney dining and Valentine’s-themed cupcakes:
Couples can enjoy a romantic dinner for two, with prix fixe menus, at various Disneyland Resort locations. Special menus will be offered during “True Love Week” at Blue Bayou and Café Orleans in DisneylandPark, Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure Park, Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel at Napa Rose in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. Guests may make dining reservations by calling 714-781-DINE (714-781-3463).
For guest with a sweet tooth, Disney chefs have created a themed Valentine’s dessert: a chocolate cupcake with raspberry mousse filling and dark chocolate mousse frosting. The cupcakes will be sold at Jolly Holiday Bakery Café in Disneyland, Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Café and Pacific Wharf Café in Disney California Adventure, and Disneyland Hotel Coffee House.
Disneyland will offer a Valentine variation of its classic mouse ear hat. Disney will also offer other “True Love Week” merchandise at select locations, including limited-edition pins, plush, apparel and Vinylmation figures.
“True Love Week” is one of the themed periods created for Disney Parks’ “Limited Time Magic” promotion. Walt Disney World Resort, in Orlando, Fla., will offer its own Valentine’s-themed week during the same period.
