When Ottawa-area golf industry folks arrive at the grand opening of the 60th annual PGA Merchandise Show from Jan. 24-26 in Orlando, Fla., Davis Love III and PGA of America officials will greet them.
Love, the 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup captain and winner of the 1997 PGA Championship, and the PGA officials will be joined by members of a local PGA Junior League at 8:15 a.m. to strike the ceremonial first ball from the second floor stage to open three jam-packed days of golf business for nearly 1,000 golf companies and brands and more than 40,000 PGA Professionals and industry executives from around the world.
“We are delighted that Davis Love and players from the PGA Junior League will be able to join us to open the 60th PGA Merchandise Show,” said PGA president Ted Bishop of The Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Ind. “The grand opening is an exciting tradition to begin the PGA Merchandise Show and a tremendous way for our industry to launch the business of the new golf season.”
Love and the PGA Merchandise Show’s opening speakers on the PGA Forum Stage – Annika Sorenstam, Ian Poulter and Dottie Pepper – are among a long list of participating celebrities at this year’s event.

The show’s new PGA Education Conference features new Instructional Workshops at the PGA Show Outdoor Demo Day, a new Fast Track Golf Industry Course and streamlined educational seminars in the PGA Education Conference.
The new Instructional Workshops at the PGA Show Outdoor Demo Day, which happens a day before the official opening on Jan. 23, will feature Hank Haney, Michael Breed and Mike Malaska. They’ll provide insight into becoming a world-class teacher, instructor, and coach to today’s golfers.
A one-hour, prime time Golf Channel special plans to capture all the news and newsmakers at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show on Jan. 27 in prime time and again during a repeat broadcast on Jan. 28.
