The finger pointing continued a day after a brawl in the parking lot of a North Hollywood recording studio, between Frank Ocean and Chris Brown, when on Monday Chris Brown’s attorney reportedly told police that Brown was “ready, willing, and able” to give them his account on the fight that broke out Sunday night.
Initially TMZ reported that Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown and Grammy-nominated Frank Ocean were in an ‘all out brawl’ outside the Westlake Recording Studio in West Hollywood Sunday night.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said in a statement that Chris Brown is under investigation for an alleged assault in a West Hollywood parking lot.
Sources close to the incident insist that Ocean started the melee, as his crew blocked Brown and his entourage from leaving the studio. Ocean was quoted as saying, “This is my studio, this is my parking spot.”
Ocean has already provide his account to authorities and is “desirous of prosecution in this incident,” according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, has been in touch with police. Geragos, who has represented some of the most sensational cases such as Michael Jackson, Winona Ryder, and murderer Scott Peterson, reportedly told police that Brown was not involved in the melee.
TMZ reports that unnamed sources have confirmed that Geragos’ team is in possession of a surveillance tape proving that Chris Brown did not participate in the fight, but it also shows that Ocean did not throw any punches either.
The video comes up short since the fight started in the parking lot and ended in the recording studio lobby, so the tape only shows the end of the brawl.
TMZ said Brown’s account is radically different from that of an unnamed witness, who has stated that Brown threw the first punch after Ocean refused to shake hands, angering Brown to the point of punching Ocean.
According to sources, once in the lobby, the fight caused major damage and they “managed to break almost everything in the room and scare all of the staff members,” before the receptionist called 911.
Brown is currently on probation for his assault with on-again, off-again girlfriend Rihanna, which could have serious consequences for the singer if convicted.
