More and more we read there are issues surrounding the purity of organic food. The discouraging words have many throwing up their hands wondering what to do. The results of an investigation put out by the I-team of abcactionnews.com regarding chemicals in organic food were not surprising.
For decades the world has used little restraint with regards to chemicals in farming practices. What happens when these chemicals are sprayed, poured or injected into the soil around plants for decades? The answer is not hard to comprehend. The soil is contaminated. OK, so if it was decades ago, then shouldn’t it be gone out of the soil by now? The answer is no.
Chemicals often are made to linger where they are placed and many are made from unnatural things or at the very least they are messed with in a lab to become this toxic substance that makes all the bugs and disease run for the hills.
Would you want Metalaxyl, Spinocyn-A, or DDD, a cousin to DDT, in your “organic” food? Trying to say them is hard enough, much less knowing what they will do in your body. You can read all about the test the I-team did here, and make no mistake, the findings were unsettling.
These types of studies makes it so much easier for people to “bite-the-bullet” as the old saying goes and dig out their gloves and hoes and grow an organic garden all their own.
If chemicals are in commercial soils, could they be in your back yard? Yes they can, and you should send out samples to be tested before you begin, just to be sure. If your ground tests positive for chemicals that are not supposed to be in the soil, you can still grow a beautiful garden in raised beds or in pots. If the problem isn’t very bad, you can replace the soil in the areas you want to grow a garden down to about 2 feet and basically start from fresh. Just be sure to use organic soil that has been tested as well.
It is never too late to begin growing your own tasty organic food. Think about how easy it will be to cook an organic meal at home when the grocery store is just outside.
