Low pressure will lift northeastward, from the upper Great Lakes, into southeastern Canada through the day today. This will drag a warm front through the Capital Region during the daytime hours. This will be followed by the system’s cold front this evening and overnight. High pressure builds into the region late at night tonight, and lasts through the midweek period. Blustery and chilly conditions are forecast for Tuesday, with winds slackening off Tuesday evening, and more subdued wind speeds expected for Wednesday.
Wednesday night into Thursday looks to be unsettled, as the area is located between two weather systems, and a week upper level disturbance passes through the region early in the day. Some light snow may break out during the overnight period Wednesday and last through Thursday morning before tapering off. Significant accumulations are not expected, though an inch or two of accumulation is not out of the question.
Low pressure to the west of the region on Friday looks to make a run at the region to start the weekend. At this point, it looks as if some semblance of a cold front may pass through the area on Saturday, though moisture looks to be lacking with the system overall. We will continue to monitor this system through the coming week.
