Bonnaroo unveiled the 9th in its 2013 Lineup Clue game today, Jan. 29. As is always the case with the first of the two weekly clues, this one was a physical poster hidden somewhere in the United States. Today’s clue was outside Colorado’s historic Red Rocks Amphitheater.
The clue, found by a member of the Inforoo fan board as well as a Facebook fan and posted online reads as follows:
Eleven months wait
For entry to the prestige
The first rejected
While there is still some debate about it, the physical location of the Tuesday clues have seemed to have some relevance to the band playing. Bonnaroo has commented on their Facebook page that it “might” give some clue to the band playing. Of course, Red Rocks is such a historic venue that just about every major band has performed there, so this could mean a band that is known for its Red Rocks concerts like The Dead or possibly a band from Colorado such as String Cheese Incident or Yonder Mountain String Band. Another possibility is heavily rumored headliner or pre-headliner Mumford and Sons, who just released a Red Rocks concert on DVD.
But that’s assuming the location is even a factor. The clue itself is another stumper. Taken as a whole, it seems to reference someone who just missed the cut for something. Some clue sleuths have suggested either a band who released an album just after the cutoff deadline for Grammy nomination or a band who was rejected for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
So far, the most popular guesses around Facebook, Inforoo, and Twitter include Mumford and Sons, The Decemberists, Dr. Dre, and David Bowie.
If you want to take a stab at solving the clue, you can go about it in one of three ways. Guesses are being posted and debated in the comments of the Bonnaroo Clue Game post on their Facebook page. Others are sending their guesses out via Twitter using the hashtag #rooclues. Finally, you can go to the dedicated Clue #8 thread on the Inforoo fan boards, where some of the most seasoned clue solvers are analyzing every line for meaning.
If solving clue #9 isn’t enough to addle your mind, the previous 8 clues are still being debated. While some have reached a basic consensus, none has officially been solved. You can find them here:
