The Buffalo Bandits announced they have released defenseman Hayden Smith earlier today. Smith was a rookie drafted in the second round (13th overall) of the NLL 2012 Entry Draft. He has only played in four games for the Bandits so far this season.
The Rochester Knighthawks should considering picking him up. Standing at 6’1, 195 pounds, Smith is a scrappy tough guy that has been known to hold his own in fights. He is just the kind of player the Knighthawks could really use on their roster right now.
With Ryan Cousins announcing his retirement, Hayden Smith could be the perfect player to fill Cousins’ spot on the roster. Despite being released by Buffalo, he is a very talented defenseman. Considering he is only a rookie, Smith should be around for years to come. Surely he is at least be worth signing to Rochester’s Practice Player List!
Buffalo also released their third round draft pick Kevin Brownell today. The moves were made to make room on the Active Roster for John Tavares, Mat Giles, and Mike McNamara who were all taken off the Injured Reserve List today. Tracey Kelusky was placed on Injured Reserve as well.
