Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal told the Republican National committee Thursday night that Republicans needed to “stop being the stupid party.” Are Republicans really the stupid party? Let’s look for clues.
Republican Party looked like weenies in Benghazi hearing
Lt. Col Ralph Peters (ret), the military expert for Fox News, said the Republicans on the House and Senate Committees that grilled Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Wednesday “looked like weenies.” That is telling coming from Fox, the official voice of the Republican Party.
Discriminating against women in the military
The print version of Fox News, the prestigious and Republican Wall Street Journal, editorialized against allowing women in combat. Their reason was “men poop,” as Zach Beauchamp characterized it. Here is what the WSJ said:
“It is humiliating enough to relieve yourself in front of your male comrades; one can only imagine the humiliation of being forced to relieve yourself in front of the opposite sex.”
A Republican author Professor Kingsley Browne told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien that now that women are allowed in combat the standards of the military will have to be lowered. He used the same exact arguments Republicans made about blacks when Truman desegregated the military. Many GOP Congressmen and Senators agree.
Republican Congressman blames welfare moms for gun violence
At a town hall meeting a constituent asked Rep. James Lankford (R-OK), the 5th highest ranking Republican, about gun violence. He answered saying it was caused in large part because welfare moms (a dog whistle for blacks and Hispanics) were over medicating their kids for a handout. This is what he said:
“Quite frankly some of the over medication of kids is because welfare moms want to get additional benefits and if they can put them on SSI through maintenance drugs, they can also put them on Social Security disability and get a separate check.”
GOP Governor claims everyone in America has heath care
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant said he remains a staunch opponent of Obamacare because health care reform is unnecessary. According to Bryant, every single American already has all the health care they need—in the emergency room.
“There is no one who doesn’t have health care in America. No one. Now, they may end up going to the emergency room. There are better ways to deal with people that need health care than this massive new program,” he said.
Mitt Romney made the same point on CBS’s 60 Minutes during the campaign.
GOP Congressmen agree women can’t get pregnant if raped
A Republican Congressman from Georgia, Phil Gingery, who is a physician, recently said Todd Akin is “partly” right when he said a women who is raped can’t get pregnant.
Republican introduces bill to jail rape victims who get an abortion
Republican State Rep. Cathrynn Brown introduced a bill in the New Mexico legislature, HB 206, which would make it a felony for a woman who is raped to get an abortion. The physician who performs such an abortion would also be guilty of a felony. She calls that “tampering with evidence.”
The bill says in part: “Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime.”
Yeah, that’s why they don’t want to carry the rapist’s child, they want to destroy the evidence against him.
They deny evolution and allow creationism only to be taught in schools
Republicans in Louisiana passed a law allowing private and parochial schools to only teach creationism not evolution to students. That will really prepare them well for the real world.
Who signed that bill into law? Governor Jindal.
They allow state employees to be fired for being gay
A Republican Governor decided not to renew an executive order protecting LGBT persons from discrimination if they work for the state. He said that same sex marriage opens the door to overturning the 2nd amendment. The argument if gays can marry today, that means no guns tomorrow.
The Governor’s name is Bobby Jindal.
In looking at the evidence it seems that yes indeed, the Republican Party is the Stupid Party. Jindal was right because it takes one to know one. Stupid is as stupid does said that sage Forest Gump.
