Dear Mr. Beck,
I listen to your radio show on The Blaze as I’m going about my morning routine. You, Pat, and Stu are easy on the ears, if not the eyes. I know we’ve had our differences in the past. (That whole antichrist thing and all. I’d apologize, but I’m not sorry. Like you, I understand that in a world where communication moves at the speed of broadband, hyperbole is sometimes needed to make a point. Not that I ever believed you were the Beast of biblical prophecy…you’re far too annoying, and it’s my understanding that the antichrist is supposed to be one likeable guy.) But for the most part, you get it right. It’s that “most part” that’s the problem now.
I’d like to draw your attention to an issue developing right in your own backyard…the great State of Texas. As you know, David Barajas, was charged with murdering a motorist who struck and killed his sons. What you might not know is how the “everyman” response and your silence on the subject are undoubtedly serving to undermine everyone’s Second Amendment rights.
I’m shocked at how many gun owners are responding to the tragedy with, “I’d have done the same thing.” I promise you this will be used against law abiding gun owners in the near future as proof that gun ownership leads to vigilantism. I urge you to exam the facts of this important case in Texas. While you are usually astute at seeing the underlying thread that’s beginning to unravel, you missed it this time, and the very fabric of the Second Amendment is in jeopardy.
Those who claim to support the right to keep and bear arms bristle at legislation that proposes restrictions. Yet, the same people insist on giving the corporate, big government-allied media proof that constitutional conservatives are a bunch of backwards hicks bent on revenge by identifying with the Texas father who killed in cold blood. How long do you think it will be before all of those gun-toting, man-on-the-street clips show up on some anti-gun site in a collage? I say less than a year. Shouldn’t you say something?
