If you love historical fiction or reading about how American pioneers lived in olden times… and if you like Christmas stories as well, then this is the perfect mix for you! A new collection titled “A Log Cabin Christmas” features stories from the hills of eastern Pennsylvania to the woods of Wisconsin, from the rural country of eastern Texas to the mountains of Colorado and Oregon. Each story is in a different region so you get a little bit of everything. There are nine different stories each from a different author:
“Snow Angel” by Margaret Brownley
“The Christmas Secret” by Wanda E. Brunstetter
“Christmas Traps and Trimmings” by Kelly Eileen Hake
“A Star in the Night” by Liz Johnson
“The Courting Quilt” by Jane Kirkpatrick
“Under His Wings” by Liz Tolsma
“The Dogtrot Christmas” by Michelle Ule
“ A Grand County Christmas” by Debra Ullrick
“Christmas Service” by Erica Vetsch
Story compilations are such great ideas, especially because you can read them super fast, and if they are only 40 or 50 pages a piece they are really manageable to consume just one story at a pop. Depending upon your reading preference you may enjoy one author over another. I know I enjoyedthe stories by Liz Johnson and Erica Vetsch quite a bit. It was a first introduction to Erica Vetsch’s writing for me and I am now excited to read some of her other novels. I’ve read two suspense novels of Liz Johnson’s and really love them but this is the first time I’ve read any historical fiction by her and I was really pleased.
Since the stories are super short you don’t have much time or much of a story to get super invested in, but it does give you a yearning for more by each the authors! I think this is a great edition to a Christmas fiction collection! It could also make a great gift. It is out now from Barbour Publishing. Go check it out!
