“Good Morning America” is heading to New Orleans to kick-off Super Bowl weekend. On Jan. 28, network officials announced that Josh Elliott and Sam Champion will broadcast live from the Super Bowl host city on Friday and will be joined by New Orleans Saints superstar quarterback Drew Brees and country music icon and Louisiana native Tim McGraw. It all happens on Friday, Feb. 1 from 7-9 a.m. EST on ABC’s “GMA.”
New Orleans’ favorite football player is making the media rounds this week in advance of the 2013 Super Bowl at the Superdome. On Thursday, he is a special guest on “The Talk,” which is broadcasting from New Orleans all this week. Then, on Friday morning, he will appear on “Good Morning America” for their annual Super Tailgate Party. He’ll stop by New Orleans hot spot Jax Brewery to talk about the upcoming 2013 Super Bowl.
Drew Brees was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times during his storied football career. He was the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year in 2004, the National Football League Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2011, and the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV. During the 2009 Super Bowl, he tied Tom Brady’s record for most completions in a Super Bowl (32). “Sports Illustrated” named Brees its 2010 Sportsman of the Year.
Country superstar Tim McGraw will also participate in the tailgate party on “GMA.” He was born in Delhi, La. and is married to country singer Faith Hill. Since debuting his self-titled album in 1990, McGraw has sold more than 40 million albums in the US, making him the eighth best-selling artist and the third best-selling country singer. He’s won 3 Grammys, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 CMA Awards, 10 American Music Awards, and 3 People’s Choice Awards. His tour with Faith Hill is the highest grossing tour in country music, and one of the top five among all genres of music.
For the Super Tailgate Party on “GMA,” McGraw will perform multiple songs from his highly anticipated album, “Two Lanes of Freedom,” from the legendary House of Blues. McGraw’s debut album for Big Machine will release on Feb. 5 and includes the singles “Truck Yeah” and “One of Those Nights.”
Sherri Shepherd from “The View” will also join the party and celebrity chef and New Orleans native Emeril Lagasse will whip up some creative Super Bowl recipes. On Monday morning, Josh Elliott will be live from The Big Easy with all of the game’s highlights and some of the Super Bowl’s big winners.
